Little girl becomes friends with permanently disfigured war veteran after emotional exchange

Heroes appear in different shapes and sizes and they don’t wear capes all the time. Some heroes may be pint-sized but they also perform acts which make people smile and add true happiness and joy to our world. Temperance Pattinson is a part of these mini-sized heroes. She is just five years old but she has grasped the importance of providing joy to the life of other people at such a young age.

She began volunteering to aid veterans and war heroes when she became three years. This is amazing, right? While other kids are busy harassing their parents for ice creams and having fantasies about meeting SpongeBob, Tempy has been partaking in numerous charity events for soldiers which even included participating in a 100m swim and triathlon in order to raise money to be used for wounded war veterans.

This heroic girl from Darlington became a member of an organization called “Help for Heroes”, this is an amazing group which is committed to supporting soldiers who were wounded and got ill and sustained other injuries in their duty for the British Armed Forces. Temperance who has always had affection for war heroes and soldiers had the opportunity to meet a real hero Simon Brown due to the Help for Heroes Program.

Simon’s life had been changed due to a near-death experience he went through while serving in the army. During his 13 years of committed service to his country, he took part in various missions and did a lot of heroic acts. Unfortunately, during one of such heroic missions which was a rescue mission located in Iraq to extract six of his colleagues who had been stranded after they had a vehicular breakdown, Simon was gunned down by a sniper. Even though he survived barely, the bullet from the sniper had hit him on the face and due to that he required at least 25 surgeries to reconstruct his cheekbones and nose. Simon became partially blind due to the incident and it led to his life being turned upside down.

Simon was given a prosthetic eye but his face became badly disfigured despite all efforts to reconstruct it. He had to return home because of his injuries and had to relearn how to live independently due to his new situation and issues regarding his self-confidence due to his misconfigured face.

The two heroes, one who has witnessed the harrowing effects of war and the other who hasn’t fought before but worked hard to help deal with the wounds of wounded soldiers met face-to-face through the Facing It Together campaign.

It was a heartbreaking and emotional meeting between the two. Simon initially was worried about how Tempy would react due to his scars and appearance but Tempy didn’t mind at all.

Tempy is quite proud of the Soldiers who risked their lives to defend others and this is why she partakes in numerous charity events because she wants to give back to them.
